Fasig-Tipton's Midlantic May 2YOs in Training sale, scheduled for 20-21 May at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, is set to feature an impressive addition of 29 supplemental entries, cataloged as hips 557-585.
Among these entries are promising 2YOs sired by renowned stallions such as Bolt d'Oro, Gun Runner, Hard Spun, Into Mischief, Justify, Not This Time, Quality Road, Speightstown, and Tapit.
"These supplemental entries add more quality to an already strong catalog," said Paget Bennett, Fasig-Tipton Midlantic director of sales.
"We have a phenomenal catalog this year—quality sire power and strong individuals," said Paget Bennett.
"Consignors are increasingly pointing many of their best prospects to this sale from the start of their training, and the lengthy list of high-profile sale graduates over the last year make Midlantic May a must-shop sale."
The list of top recent graduates is headlined by Mage, winner of the 2023 Gr.1 Kentucky Derby and earner of more than US$2.5 million. The son of Good Magic is the 21st Fasig-Tipton graduate to capture the American classic.
Other recent graded stakes-winning graduates in the United States and abroad include Duke of Love , Full Count Felicia , Kinza , Linda's Gift , Mendelssohn Bay, Olivia Darling , Prerequisite , Private Creed , Secret Money , and Straight No Chaser .
The sale, which follows the Preakness Stakes, will commence each day at 11 a.m. The under tack show, a pre-sale showcase of the horses' abilities, will span three sessions from 14th May 14 to 16th May, with proceedings starting at 8 a.m.
Last year's edition of the sale witnessed significant transactions, including the acquisition of the US$1 million Arrogate filly named Nuit Magique, consigned by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds and purchased by international bloodstock agent Kerri Radcliffe. Despite her high price tag, Nuit Magique has yet to make her racing debut.
Another notable purchase from the 2023 sale was Sabatini, a filly by Uncle Mo out of the winning Blame daughter Gabriellestoblame. Solis/Litt acquired her for US$625,000 from Pick View. Currently campaigned by NK Racing and LNJ Foxwoods, and trained by Josie Carroll, Sabatini recently secured her maiden victory and earned stakes status by winning the Star Shoot Stakes at Woodbine on 27th April.
In the 2023 edition of the Midlantic sale, 375 horses were sold, amassing a gross of US$34,795,500. Colts fetched an average price of US$94,729, while fillies averaged US$91,053, resulting in an overall average of US$92,788.
