A late flurry of high-class breeding prospects at Fasig-Tipton's The November Sale saw Ramatuelle emerge as one of the auction's standout lots, with Coolmore's M.V. Magnier securing the Group One winner for US$5.1 million.
The 3YO daughter of Justify, standing at Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Kentucky, enhanced her value significantly after landing the Gr.1 Prix de la Foret at Longchamp in October. Bedouin Bloodstock presented the sole progeny of Group winner Raven's Lady.
Previous winners of the Prix de la Foret include the mighty Goldikova, who went on to capture three Breeders' Cup Miles, and Moonlight Cloud, successful in six Group One races.
"She's a lovely filly, and in fairness to Christopher Head, he's done an incredible job with her," Magnier remarked. "Arthur Hoyeau, in fairness, spotted her as a yearling, and everybody else didn't really. She's a very good filly, and well done to them."
Ramatuelle's future lies with Wootton Bassett, the French champion standing at Coolmore Ireland for US$217,518. The stallion's remarkable achievements include setting records for juvenile Group winners and Group One winners from his first Irish crop.
His prowess in the sales ring was exemplified when his progeny set a European record, with a colt out of Park Bloom realising US$5,891,000 at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1, purchased by Kia Joorabchian's Amo Racing.
Neal Clarke of Bedouin Bloodstock expressed his satisfaction: "I thought the sale was great, we're very happy, obviously the owners are very happy. She's a beautiful filly, she came in just the last 24 hours. She's been a complete angel and a princess, never put a foot wrong the whole time she was here. She's just pure class and we're so tickled with it."
"She was very popular all day. She has the kind of speed that I think they're looking for. She was a catch, there's no doubt about it. It's been a great sale for us, we're tickled with it."
