Eric Lemartinel, the seasoned French conditioner operating from Al Ain since 2021, is mapping out an ambitious campaign for his string ahead of the UAE season. Having established his presence in the Emirates since 2006, Lemartinel's operation has been bustling with activity since August.
Leading the charge is progressive 3YO Manaar, who showed considerable promise last term with a brace of victories. "I have a little filly, Manaar. She had two wins last season, and we hope to see her take one more step," said Lemartinel.
The stable has secured the services of Jules Mobian as first-choice pilot, whilst apprentice Roxane Liegeois brings valuable claiming opportunities to the yard. Her allowance could prove crucial in competitive handicaps throughout the winter programme.
Lemartinel's operation, alongside fellow Gallic trainer Jean-Claude Pecout, represents the largest training establishment at Al Ain's Equestrian and Shooting Centre. Both handlers are flying the flag for the venue, which has seen significant development since its inception.
The entire string will sport the distinctive red and green checks of Yas Racing, one of the UAE's prominent racing operations. "Their preparations have been great up to this point, and we'll have multiple runners at both Abu Dhabi and Sharjah," Lemartinel added, suggesting a multi-pronged attack across the Emirates' racing venues.
Notable Al Ain-based trainers have historically made their mark in prestigious races, with the venue producing multiple Group One winners in Arabian racing. Previous successful handlers operating from the base include Ernst Oertel, who trained AF Albahar to capture the Gr.1 Dubai Kahayla Classic.
