A mammoth US$2.94 million prize pool awaits the world's finest Arabians as they gear up for the 32nd UAE President Cup Purebred Arabian Grand Prix at Abu Dhabi Turf Club on December 15.
The Gr.1 showpiece, staged under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has received a significant boost with prize money increased by US$1.42 million from last year's renewal. The feature race alone carries a purse of US$2.18 million, whilst the thoroughbred contest offers US$272,000.
Previous winners of this prestigious contest include RB Rich Lyke Me, who went on to land the Gr.1 Kahayla Classic at Meydan, and Hayyan, successful in both the Qatar Arabian World Cup and the President of the UAE Cup at ParisLongchamp.
Director-General Ali Al Shaiba said: "We are delighted to welcome international competitors to the Abu Dhabi Turf Club, exemplifying the future of Purebred Arabian racing. Our efforts seek to raise global visibility for this noble sport and bring the pure greatness of a world-class racing experience to Abu Dhabi."
The meeting's growing prominence was emphasised by Faisal Al Rahmani, President of the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing, who praised the venue's world-class facilities.
Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, General Manager of Emirates Racing Authority, lauded Sheikh Mansour's vision in advancing Arabian racing's global status. The barrier draw ceremony for this milestone event takes place on December 13, setting the stage for what promises to be an exceptional day of international racing.
The seven-race card showcases both Arabian and thoroughbred talent, with the latter competing in their own President Cup contest, emphasising Abu Dhabi's commitment to both codes of the sport.
