Michael Dee has been selected to ride Imperatriz, a talented New Zealand racehorse, in the upcoming Gr.2 McEwen Stakes. Imperatriz has an impressive record of thirteen wins in just nineteen starts and will be facing tough competition from other contenders such as Giga Kick, What You Need, and Rothfire.
Opie Bosson, who is Imperatriz's regular rider, will be unable to ride in the upcoming McEwen Stakes due to prior commitments at Hastings on the same day. Michael Dee has been selected as Imperatriz's replacement rider for the race. Imperatriz has an incredible track record under both Jamie Richards and Mark Walker, with thirteen wins in just nineteen starts. The competition will be tough, with other strong contenders like Giga Kick, What You Need, and Rothfire vying for the win at Moonee Valley.
Imperatriz, a member of the powerful Te Akau team, recently triumphed at Moonee Valley in March in the prestigious Group One William Reid. She managed to fend off Bella Nipotina by a length, securing her third Group One win in five starts.
Imperatriz: Dominating The Group One Races With Five Victories
Her impressive streak also includes victories in the Group One Railway, the Gr.2 Westbury Classic, and the 1 BDC Sprint. Additionally, she finished as a runner-up in the Canterbury Stakes at Randwick, another Group One event. Impressively, Imperatriz has accumulated a total of five Group One wins, including the Thoroughbred Breeders and the Levin Classic, both of which she won for Richards.
Inperatriz is set to make a strong impact in the McEwen, and even beyond. The high-quality opponents she will face won't deter her, as she has already proven her capability in previous encounters. Additionally, her first-up performance is noteworthy, having won four out of five starts when resuming.
Imperatriz has never competed in races that are 1000m long, such as the McEwen race. However, just when you might think that this is a weakness, it turns out that she has actually won twice over a slightly longer distance of 1110m. This indicates that any doubts about her ability to handle different distances can be dismissed, especially considering her current form.
Dee is delighted to have the ride, but he informed Racing.com that he anticipates Opie Bosson reuniting with Imperatriz as she progresses in her campaign toward the Moir and Manikato Stakes.
Military Order Returns To The Track: A Preview of His Appearance In The Chester Stakes
Military Order will be making his first appearance since the Derby in the Listed Chester Stakes at Chester, UK, on Saturday, 2nd September.
The horse who is the full-brother of the 2021 Derby and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes champion Adayar is now racing over a distance of a mile and three-quarters.
This comes after he was unable to beat a competitor in the Epsom Downs Classic back in June. Military Order, who won his second career outing at Newmarket last October, has had an excellent start to his 3YO campaign. He has already achieved two impressive wins, scoring by four lengths at Newbury before securing a decisive victory in the Listed Lingfield Derby Trial.
Charlie Appleby said, “Military Order has enjoyed a nice break since Epsom and we have been very pleased with how he has done physically over the summer. We had the option of running here or in France and were looking for the better ground for him – good, good to soft at worst – so hopefully we get those conditions at Chester.
“We feel that stepping up to this trip will potentially suit but we are very much dipping our toe to see where we are going into the autumn. If he happens to win well, he could put himself into the St Leger picture, and we are looking forward to getting him back on track.”
