Regarding plans for Inspiral, the horse who recently won the Prix Jacques le Marois for the second time at Deauville, the Cheveley Park Stud-owned champion will not participate in the Group One Coolmore-sponsored Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday week. Instead, the team will focus on a target closer to home.
Gosden said, “Inspiral has come out of her French win in good shape and the plan is to take her to the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on October 7 and then possibly to the Breeders’ Cup Mile.”
Inspiral is one of the top contenders for the Sun Chariot race, according to bookmaker William Hill. She shares the position with stablemate Nashwa. Interestingly, Inspiral did not participate in the same race last year. Instead, she ran in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions’ Day at Ascot.
John Gosden, Inspiral's trainer, expressed his confidence in the horse's upcoming performance. He mentioned that he trained in California many years ago and is familiar with the Santa Anita track where the Breeders' Cup will take place this year. He believes that the track will suit Inspiral's racing style and sees it as the right place to take her.
The Sun Chariot and Breeders' Cup are both notable races in the horse racing industry, and winning them can significantly boost a horse's reputation. Inspiral's impressive performance in the past has garnered attention, and her participation in these races is highly anticipated. It remains to be seen how she will fare against the competition, but her trainer's confidence is a positive sign.
