A dazzling performance by Qatar Racing homebred 2YO filly Kaleidoscope, on her debut over 1m at Lingfield on 6th December, has left everyone impressed and anticipating her bright future in the world of horse racing.
Kaleidoscope has a strong pedigree as she is by Kingman, a sire trained by John Gosden, out of Sheikh Fahad’s first Gr.1 winner, Lightening Pearl, who won the 2011 Cheveley Park Stakes. She proved her mettle as a potential top performer when she outclassed her 9 rivals on the polytrack at Lingfield.
Ridden by Oisin Murphy, Kaleidoscope broke brilliantly from the widest stall and quickly moved up to a prominent position. When asked to quicken in the home straight, she left her competitors behind and hit the line with 3 lengths to spare over her stablemate, Sea Ice, who is an experienced runner. The rest of the pack was strung out behind her.
Kaleidoscope has been allotted a Timeform Rating of 87P, which is impressive for a debutant. Her half-sister, Lightening Quick, had improved by 10 lb to win a Gr.3 on 3YO return, while her full brother, Lightening Fast, won off 91 as a 3YO. Another sibling, Rakurai, proved to be an improved performer at 3 after returning from a break.
Trained by John and Thady Gosden, Kaleidoscope was raised and grazed at Tweenhills. Horse racing enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to see her future performances as she looks destined for greater things.
