Goliath owner-breeder Bob Peters was yesterday named as Western Australia’s Breeder of the Year at the WA Thoroughbred of the Year award ceremony. Peters crowned a dominant season in his home state with victories in his cerise and white-crossed silks for Regal Power (Pierro) in the Kingston Town Stakes (Gr 1, 1800m), Western Empire (Iffraaj) in the Railway Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) and Graceful Girl (Nicconi) in the Gr.1 Winterbottom Stakes.
Arcadia Queen, the winner of six of seven starts, lined up for Peters in The Everest 2019, finishing unplaced.
The WA Broodmare of the Year award was split between Peters’ mares Broadway Belle, dam of Regal Power, and Stormy Nova (Metal Storm), the dam of Cantala Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Superstorm (Sebring).
The WA Sire of the Year award went to Scenic Lodge’s Blackfriars (Danehill), who won his 12th WA Sires’ Premiership last season, aided by five stakes winners, including Black Fantasy, Constant Dreaming and Tellem We’re Comin.
