As the fifth meeting of the Dubai World Cup Carnival has been wrapped up and the Carnival heats up seven talented racers have been rewarded with rises in their ratings.
The Simon and Ed Crisford trained gelding is doing everything right on the track and strengthening his reputation as the breakout star of the season. He is taking his career to the next level from last season’s campaign and has now won the Group 2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round Two last week by a thumping six lengths. In the run, he carried on his work with James Doyle onboard replicating their victory in the Group Two Al Maktoum Challenge Round One last month by the same great margin.
Last season he beat home the Bhupat Seemar trained Remorse home in the Jebel Ali Mile during his UAE campaign with and eighth place finish in the Group Two Godolphin Mile.
If Algiers is the thoroughbred of the moment then this Majed Al Jahoori trained 8YO is the Pure Arabian showing the rest how it is done. With Oscar Chavez onboard the Munjiz x Dahwa progeny took out the Group One Al Maktoum Challenge Round Two beating home Rajeh by three and a half lengths.
It was his third start for this season and although he had not won since October 2021 his form and consistency should not be ignored having captured three Group Ones and three Group Twos in his career.
Trained by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin he has two UAE starts in his career after stepping out for local debut on January 6. In his native UK he had lined up six times for two wins and three further placings across the Newmarket, Doncaster and Ascot tracks. Last start the 4YO gelded son of Dubawi beat home the David O’Meara runner in Get Shirty by a length in the Vazirabad Handicap.
Prepared by Bhupat Seemar the 6YO has relished racing in the UAE since his local debut in March 2020 where he ran second in the Listed Al Bastakiya. He has gone on to finish third several times in the Group Three Burj Nahaar (2021, 2022), Group Three Firebreak Stakes (2022), second in the Listed Al Garhoud Sprint this campaign in December behind the Michael Costa trained Mouheeb before breaking through to win last week. The victory was a great one coming in the Group Three Al Shindagha Sprint under Jose de Silva scoring by three lengths beating home Isolate and stablemate Freedom Fighter.
A 4YO filly stepped out for her local debut last week taking out the Group Two Cape Verdi by 0.75 lengths beating home another Godolphin starter in White Moonlight. She is trained by Charlie Appleby and has four wins, three placings in the UK after debuting in July 2021. Her wins include a Newmarket Listed race by close to five lengths as well as a Grade Three win last August.
Another Charlie Appleby trained gelding rewarded with a boost in his ratings off the back of two straight wins in Group Twos. Last week he took out the Group Two Singspiel Stakes by a short head with James Doyle in the saddle, the hoop retained from their 0.75 length win in the Group Two Al Rashidya last month beating home Godolphin stablemates Dubai Future and Ottoman Fleet.
The Dubawi x Chachamaidee gelding took the spoils in a Listed company in Yorke last June also before returning to the UAE for his second campaign.
Debuting locally in January 2020 he has raced exclusively in the UAE since then he has won twice since then with a Newmarket Novice victory prior to that. The 7YO gelded son of Kingman won in Meydan last week beating home Ouzo for 90-100 rated types. With this bump, the Ali Al Badwawi-trained horse for Shadwell will begin racing in the next tier and hopefully can repeat this performance without much of a gap between a return to the winner’s circle.
