Racing returns to Jebel Ali on Saturday with a six race card highlighted by the Group Three Jebel Ali Mile.
Run over 1600m on the dirt the journey will be contested by a quality field of 12 with Bhupat Seemar-trained Secret Ambition carrying the highest rating (109).
The 10YO Exceed and Excel x Inner Secret horse is no stranger to Group victory having taken this race in 2019 along with a 2021 season that saw him win the Firebreak Stakes and the Group Two Godolphin Mile in 2021.
This season he has had two starts at Meydan finishing fourth last start last month in the Group Two Al Maktoum Challenge Round One that saw Algiers victorious.
In his way in the contest he will face a field that is quality and includes a trio that will surely throw down the challenge in hopes of scoring the AED $575,000 feature.
Canvassed trained by Doug Watson took out the Group Three Mahab Al Shimaal during his 2021 season and returns after a last start that saw him finish fourth in the Group Three Dubawi Stakes.
Sovereign Prince has won three from three UAE starts for trainer Charlie Appleby for Godolphin and returns to the track after a 1.25 victory at Meydan last month in his only other start for this season.
Another interesting runner here is the Super Saver x Bayou Tortuga runner Down on da Bayou trained by Salem bin Ghadayer who has a win and three second placings from her last four starts.
In race four, eight will contest the Jebel Ali Sprint Prep Trophy with Upper Class the top hope. For trainer Julio Olascoaga the gelded son of Tiger Heart returns to the track backing up from a second placing last start. Starting his career off with a win first up in July 2020 he would go on to make it four straight wins before debuting in the UAE in January 2021. From ten starts in the UAE he has one win to his name so far winning by close to eight lengths in Meydan in November.
Racing will start at 2:30PM opened with the Commercial Bank of Dubai Cup, a handicap run over 1400m.
