At the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, weanling colts from the first crops of sires Vekoma and Country House fetched $290,000 and $250,000 on the 13th, respectively.
On Sunday, 279 of the 338 horses offered for sale at Keeneland were purchased for a total of $9,349,400, which is a decline of 2.4% compared to the corresponding statistics for 2021. In comparison to the previous year, average prices rose by 6.6% to $33,510 while the median fell by 13% to $20,000. One-seventeenth of the reserve was not reached by fifty-nine horses, or the RNA rate. In comparison to the 2021 session, the number of RNAs has increased by 51.2%, or by twice.
There were 2,055 horses up for auction over the past seven days, with 1,624 selling at the hammer for a total of $202,299,300 (an increase of 6.3% year-over-year). The average sale price was $124,569, while the median sale price was $60,000. At the end of the day, 431 people had not been purchased, representing an RNA rate of 21%.
One year ago, 1,746 out of 2,085 listings had already sold for a total of $190,244,000; this represented an average selling price of $108,959 (up 14.3% from 2021) and a median selling price of $60,000. Considering there were a total of 339 unsold horses, the RNA rate is 16.2%.
For $290,00, Oreo Racing purchased a weanling colt by Vekoma, the sire of many grade 1 winners. This stakes-winning daughter of Indian Charlie was consigned by Brookdale Sales to Susan Anderson Racing as Hip 2355. The half-brother to the stakes-placed runner Startdfromdabottom, this colt hails from the same bloodline as the 2001 Kentucky Derby victor Monarchos and the group 1 victor New Real Deal.
Weanling colt Hip 2370 was purchased by Bellarmine Racing for the 2019 Kentucky Derby. Country House, winner of the Woodford Reserve (Gr.1), has donated $250,000. Gainesway, the colt's agent, consigned the first foal from the stakes-winning Ghostzapper mare Georgia Clay. His ancestors include the successful racehorses Act One (who won the French group 1 many times), Maedean (who won the stakes), Summer Solstice (who won the stakes twice), Summer Breezing (who won the stakes once), and Adirondack Summer (who won the stakes once).
