Doha, Qatar: Ooredoo Qatar, the nation's top telecommunications company and a strong advocate for cultural and sporting heritage, proudly announces its role as the official telecommunications partner and sponsor of the Shalfa Race at the HH The Amir Sword Festival. This exciting event is scheduled for 17th Saturday, 2024, at the Al Rayyan Racecourse, solidifying Qatar's position as a premier destination for world-class equestrian sports.
The Shalfa Race, exclusively for individual Qatar-owned Class two thoroughbreds aged four years and above, will witness elite equine athletes competing over a challenging 2000m distance. The victor will claim the prestigious Shalfa trophy, symbolizing equestrian prowess and excellence.
This year's substantial prize money of US$400,000 US dollars emphasizes the race's prestige and international significance.
Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Bin Mohammad Al Thani, CEO of Ooredoo Qatar, expressed, "Ooredoo Qatar is honored to be the title sponsor of the HH The Amir Shalfa Race, reflecting our dedication to Qatar's rich equestrian heritage and top-tier sporting events. The race not only celebrates competition and excellence but also aligns with our values of community engagement and showcasing our nation's cultural richness on the global stage. We eagerly look forward to an event that will captivate both local and global audiences."
HE Issa bin Mohammad Al-Mohannadi, Chairman of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC), stated, "We are pleased with Ooredoo's sponsorship, contributing to the success of the HH The Amir Sword Festival. In the previous year, 'King Pacha,' owned by Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari, claimed victory in the race. This year's edition promises to be an equally thrilling showcase of the finest thoroughbreds and jockeys globally.
The Shalfa Race takes center stage at the HH The Amir Sword Festival, occurring from 15 to 17 February 2024. Ooredoo's sponsorship underscores its commitment to supporting and preserving Qatar's rich heritage in equestrian sports.
