Into Mischief is once again topping the Spendthrift Farm roster for the 2025 breeding season, with the five-time champion general sire standing for a fee of US$250,000. The Kentucky-based operation has unveiled its stud fees for 29 stallions, showcasing a diverse lineup catering to breeders at all levels.
Spendthrift's general manager Ned Toffey is hailing Into Mischief's unprecedented success, saying: "Into Mischief continues to push into uncharted territory in the long and rich history of stallions in this industry. He's not only on track to claim his sixth consecutive champion general sire title, but he's also reinforcing that high level of success on the racetrack while maintaining remarkable results at the sales. Of his five Group One winners in 2024, four are new Group One winners this year, bringing his career total to 22. He's truly a once-in-a-generation sire."
The son of Harlan's Holiday is poised to become the first stallion in history to surpass US$30 million in progeny earnings in a single year. With a commanding lead of over US$13 million over his nearest rival Gun Runner, Into Mischief has already eclipsed his own record of US$28,122,550 set in 2022.
Spendthrift Farm is bolstering its stallion ranks with the addition of American classic winners Dornoch and National Treasure, along with fellow Group One victor Kingsbarns. Dornoch, the most accomplished son of Good Magic to date, is now available for inspection at the farm. The impressive bay colt, who captured back-to-back victories in the Gr.1 Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Racecourse and the Gr.1 Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park, will command an introductory fee of US$40,000.
National Treasure, a leading contender for the upcoming Gr.1 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile at Del Mar and winner of the Gr.1 Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park and the Gr.1 Metropolitan Handicap at Saratoga in 2024, will have its fee announced next month.
Champion Forte will stand his second season for US$45,000 after covering a quality first book of 196 mares. Popular young sires Omaha Beach - the leading second-crop sire in North America - and champion Jackie's Warrior will both stand for US$35,000.
Thousand Words, a top five first-crop sire in North America this year, sees his fee increase to US$12,500 after siring 13 winners. For the 2025 season, Basin, By My Standards, Known Agenda, and Rock Your World will participate in Spendthrift's Safe Bet Program, standing for US$5,000 each.
Vekoma, currently second on the first-crop sires list and leading juvenile sire with 25 winners and four black-type winners, will have his fee announced in the coming weeks.
The Gr.1 Belmont Stakes, won by Dornoch in 2024, has a rich history of producing successful stallions. Previous winners include Tapit (2004), who went on to become a leading sire in North America, and American Pharoah (2015), who completed the Triple Crown before embarking on a successful stud career.
Toffey concludes: "At Spendthrift, we've expanded both the quality and number of our stallions, allowing us to offer the most diverse roster we've ever had. Our goal has long been to provide the best opportunities for breeders at all levels, and we're more confident than ever that breeders can trust in the quality and value we deliver across the board."
