Mr. Irrelevant stormed to victory in the Cup race, headlining an evening of thrilling action under the floodlights at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club in Sakhir.
Running in the third race over 1,600m, the 4YO gelding secured the lion's share of the US$10,600 prize money for owners Al Mohamediya Racing and trainer Fawzi Nass, with jockey Husain Makki delivering a polished performance in the saddle.
Showing tremendous acceleration in the closing stages, Mr Irrelevant pulled clear to win by a length-and-a-quarter from stablemate Gulmarg, also representing Mohamediya and Nass, with Husain Asghar aboard. Modmin claimed third for Al Asayel Racing and trainer Khalid Al Khatri, while Mehmento finished fourth for Al Afoo Racing and Jaber Ramadhan.
The prestigious meeting, the 28th of the 2024-25 national horseracing season, was attended by Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, chairman of the Isa Bin Salman Education Charitable Trust, Labour Fund chairman, and REHC chairman.
The evening's ninth and final race saw Nomadic Empire claiming glory over the 1,200m straight to secure the US$10,600 prize. The 7YO gelding, representing Mohamediya and trainer Osama Hashim with Asghar riding, proved too strong for his rivals.
Inveigle filled the runner-up spot for Sayed Jawad Marzooq and trainer Mahmood Jawad, with Rosie Jessop in the plate. Labalaba took third for Shaikh Isa bin Duaij bin Salman bin Mubarak Al Khalifa and Nass, while Rebel at Dawn completed the frame for Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Adel Abdulla.
The evening’s second race contested over 1,600m with US$5,300 in prize money, went to The Irishman for L&L Racing and trainer AM Smith, with Marcialis Jaures delivering a perfectly timed ride.
Mister Dollar claimed second for Mohamediya and Ali Abdulmajeed, while Pisces took third for Shaikha Deena bint Rashed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and trainer Yousif Alboainain. Night Lantern completed the places for M and E Racing and Smith.
Other winners on the card included Obeyan 1983 in the Arabian Cup for Al Wasmiya and Abdulla Kuwaiti; Bint Al Jazeera for Mohamediya and Hashim; Memory Card representing M and E Racing and Smith; Mossaafer for Salah Racing and Abdulla; Messayil for owner-trainer Jaffar Marzooq; and Garsman for Abnaa Hani Al Marzooq and Hashim.
