Fuwayrit demonstrated his class and tenacity to land the feature Sealine Cup at Al Uqda on Thursday, providing trainer Gassim Ghazali with a significant victory. The 7YO son of Gutaifan, owned by Sharida bin Nasser bin Sharida Al-Kaabi, prevailed by a neck under a masterful ride from Marco Casamento.
Tracking the early leaders Balefire and Bayraq through the initial stages of the 1,400m contest, Fuwayrit made his move at the perfect moment. Despite a late challenge from General Panic, who finished second under Tomas Lukasek for trainer Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki, the veteran performer held on gamely. The Wathnan Racing-owned Monsieur Noir completed the frame, finishing a length and a half behind in third.
Earlier on the card, Dhouha delivered an eye-catching performance in the opener, dominating the 1,400m Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate. The Hadi Al Ramzani-trained filly, under Soufiane Saadi, powered clear to win by three and a half lengths from AA Trunk Monkey.
Wathnan Racing's Rothstein broke his maiden at the fifth attempt in the Thoroughbred Handicap, while Al Shaqab Racing's Al Khbaib impressed in the Purebred Arabian Conditions race with a four-length victory under Olivier d'Andigne.
The day concluded with AJS Jamran securing his sixth career victory in the Purebred Arabian Conditions race for Al Jeryan Stud, trained by M.H.K Al Attiyah and ridden by Szczepan Mazur.
The Sealine Cup has previously been won by notable performers including Desert Force (2022), who went on to claim multiple Group Three successes, and Methgal (2021), who later triumphed in the prestigious His Highness The Amir's Trophy.
Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, was on hand to present the trophies to the successful connections.
